The Surabaya City Government (Pemkot) distributed 2000 free tickets to watch the U17 World Cup for elementary and high school students. The free tickets were distributed to enliven the opening of the U17 World Cup match at the Gelora Bung Tomo Stadium (GBT) Surabaya, Friday, (10/11/2023).
Surabaya Mayor Eri Cahyadi said that there were 2,000 free U17 World Cup tickets distributed to elementary and high school students. The tickets can be used to watch the opening of the World Cup at GBT Stadium on Friday, (10/11/2023).
"There are 2000 free tickets for school children. So high school, junior high school and elementary school are free. We distributed 2,000 (tickets)," said Mayor Eri Cahyadi, Thursday (9/11/2023).
Mayor Eri also explained that the ticket distribution mechanism will be carried out through schools. Schools will get tickets according to the number of students and distributed randomly.
"So the ticket is direct, one-way. So it can be used directly for (watching) the first and second matches," he said.
He revealed that the U17 World Cup tickets for the first day's match at the GBT Stadium had been sold out. In fact, tickets for the first day's match were sold not only at the west gate but throughout.
"So we are indeed rationed 38 thousand (tickets). Of the 38 thousand (tickets) for the first day's match at 16.00 WIB and at 19.00 WIB, they have run out," he said.
On the other hand, Mayor Eri also stated related to transportation to the GBT Stadium. He said that shuttle buses and feeder vehicles had been prepared at several points to transport World Cup spectators to the GBT Stadium area.
"Because no vehicles are allowed to enter the GBT area, all buses are only allowed. Except for vehicles that have been given stickers, which are specifically for the President and certain invitations," he explained.
Mayor Eri ensured that the GBT Surabaya Stadium was ready to host the U17 World Cup organizers. Even before, FIFA had directly reviewed the preparations at the GBT Stadium.
"Please pray for all Indonesian citizens, especially Surabaya residents, that the U17 World Cup event tomorrow can run smoothly, safely, and safely. And success for the Indonesian national team to win from the group phase," he concluded. (*)
